Keeping Up with Your New Year’s Resolutions?

It’s not your fault, the odds are against you: according to U.S. News, by mid-February 80% of New Year’s resolutions have already failed. BUT that doesn’t mean that is the end of your journey… you still have essentially the rest of the year ahead. Turn your frustration into motivation. Try focusing on smaller, more attainable monthly or quarterly resolutions. You will reap the rewards sooner. Here are some ideas on how to keep your resolutions going…

Resolution: Exercise more

What you can do: Switch things up every month in order to keep things interesting. Been meaning to start exercising? Start small with a morning stretch and a few short walks. Ready to dive into things? Find an accountability partner to accompany you or even just “like” your status updates as you complete your next challenge!

Resolution: Eat healthier

What you can do: Consult a nutritionist to understand what foods will better fuel you and your lifestyle, but in the meantime you can start with something as simple and universal as drinking more water. Water energizes the muscles and helps you maintain normal bowel function. Gift yourself a cool new water bottle that adapts to your needs and honestly, just makes you smile when you look at it.

Resolution: Meet new people

What you can do: Whether you want to make friends or find the love of your life, you are less likely to do so if you just stay at home. Get creative and attend unique events that you feel passionate about – like special lectures, concerts or food festivals – it will attract like-minded people that you are bound to connect with!

Resolution: Reduce stress

What you can do: Ha. Easier said than done, right? Try meditating, reducing your social media use, going to sleep earlier or taking a walk through a park every morning.

Think about why you chose your resolution to begin with, remind yourself of what you want to achieve, get comfortable and confident with your plan and let’s go!
